Gregg Cup Success
Following our earlier success to get through to the semi - finals, our football team took on Howitt Primary last night at the Heanor Town Ground. In the first of the evenings matches, the game kicked off and we conceded a very early goal however, they soon got that winning feeling once more and went on to win comfortably 10-1, with some excellent strikes on goal and fantastic passing.
The boys did the school very proud yet again and we look forward to the final against our old rivals, Langley Mill, on Thursday of next week. Kick off is at 6.30pm and we would welcome your support on the evening to cheer the team on. Fabulous performance again boys!
Gregg Cup
Congratulations to our football team, who tonight played at Heanor Town Ground, in the Gregg Cup quarter finals against Loscoe Primary School. Under the floodlights on a miserable wet evening, the team warmed our hearts with a wonderful 8-2 win, showing moments of great skill but more importantly, fantastic teamwork and camaraderie. So proud of them all and look forward to a semi final game next week. Thank you to everyone who came along to cheer the boys on.
We Remember
This morning,to commemorate Remembrance Day, we have held our service at the front of our school and welcomed parents from the children of Years 5 and 6 to join us. In keeping with tradition, Year 6 led the service, supported by Year 5, to pay our respects to those who fell during times of conflict. All the children and the Smalley Old Boys will visit the memorial throughout the day. Well done to our children for showing such respect during the service.
Our Pumpkin Parade
Thank you to all the children and their families for the wonderful pumpkins
that came to school yesterday - so many different designs.
It was so lovely to see so many parents and children after school for our Pumpkin Parade - thank you for supporting our PTFA event.
Ukulele Lessons
This year in class 5 we are learning to play the Ukulele. We have been learning the key vocabulary of music to aid us in our work.
Rhythm - Combinations of long and short sounds that convey movement.
Beat - The basic unit of time within music.
Pulse - The underlying steady beat of music. This is what we may tap our foot or clap along with.
