This half term Year 2 have been making London buses in Design and Technology. We think they look fabulous! They are thinking about the steps they took to make them for our Instruction writing.

This term we are learning all about Nelson Mandela. Our book this term is called 'Grandad Mandela' which the children have enjoyed reading and using to support their learning in their lessons. We have been learning lots of new vocabulary and researching facts about Nelson Mandela using the internet on the ipads. 

Peace and Conflict

We will be reading the book 'Poppy Field' this term to support our topic work. We have began reading it this week, making predictions and exploring a wide range of new vocabulary. 

Show Racism the Red Card

We spent some time reflecting on Friday and making some red cards and red wrist bands in suppprt of the 'Show Racism the Red Card' day. Amber kindly made some red hair ties for the children to wear on Friday to show their support! Thank you Amber. 

Class 2's visit to St John The Baptist Church

Class 2 have been learning all about St John The Baptist Church in our History lessons, looking in particularly at the bells. The children had a wonderful visit and all got to ring the bells!

Our Pumpkin Parade

that came to school yesterday - so many different designs.

It was so lovely to see so many parents and children after school for our Pumpkin Parade - thank you for supporting our PTFA event.

Computing

In Computing today, we have been using the app, Photo Grid, to make adjustments to photographs that we have taken. We have been adjusting the brightness, contrast and saturation (as well as learning the defintions of these new words.) 

Here are a few examples of the photographs that the children have adjusted in today's session. 

 Next week we will be exploring how to crop photographs and add different effects. The aim of our learning in Computing is to edit an image to match the style of the illustrations in the books written by Tom Percival which we are currently studying.
