A visit from Derbyshire Constabulary

This afternoon our children had a visit from Derbyshire Police. They enjoyed asking questions, dressing up and sitting in Police vehicles. A relaxed and enjoyable session with the aim of building a positive relationship with our children. The sirens at the end were a real treat!

Celebrating the King's Coronation

This week we have been decorating our school ready for the Coronation. To connect with our community, the children have written poems, which have been shared on our school railings for everyone to enjoy.

We are all looking forward to dressing in red, white and blue and celebrating together with a party lunch.

Sleeping Well

This week we have been looking at the importance of sleep and things that help us or prevent us getting a good night's sleep. We learnt that sleep deprivation reduces concentration, reduces decision making skills and causes us to feel tired and irritable throughout the day.

Class 5 have thoroughly enjoyed this half term's Music lessons and learning to play the eukelele. As you can see, they are improving all the time and have loved being able to incorporate the use of Makaton, when singing along to the music.

Spanish Class 5

To consolidate our learning of last weeks lesson on transport, the children completed a Treasure Hunt Challenge in small groups, by looking for clues to find an anagram. This proved to be a huge success and a more fun way to learn.

We also combined their I.T skills, with their current learning, to give instructions in Spanish to their partners to help them complete a computer game by giving directions.

Spanish Let's Go!

This half term, to link with our previous topic of "My Town", we are looking at transport and how we use the verb "to go". The children are currently focussed on their Spanish aural work, where they have to listen to the spoken word and recognise the words.
