The Bayeux Tapestry

The Bayeux Tapestry is an embroidered cloth ,which depicts the events leading up to the Battle of Hastings in 1066.

Class 5 enjoyed sharing a video and then chose events supported by illustrations to build up their own story of this historic event.

American Independence Day

The 4th July,Independence Day marks the historic date in 1776 when the 'Declaration of Independence 'was approved by the continental congress.

The children had a discussion about the importance of why everyone is equal and why they have the right to be respected, treated and listened to fairly and equally.

Sports Day

What a glorious afternoon for our sports day. It was wonderful to see the fun and hear the cheering and encouragement for each other. Well done everyone!

Anti-social Behaviour

Today, our school had a visit from Derbyshire Police. They visited the classes in KS2 to talk about anti-social behaviour. The children were surprised to learn that the age of criminal responsibility is 10 years old. They learnt that the definition of anti-social behaviour is anything that causes distress, harassment or alarm to other people.

The visitors explained that they want to work with children to educate them and help them understand the consequences of anti- social behaviour. The class were eager to ask questions and took part in a quiz.

Road Safety

This week we had a visit from Andy from the Road Safety Team at Derbyshire County Council. He spoke to us about the 4 rules to remember when crossing and travelling on the road.

STOP!,LOOK!,LISTEN!, THINK!

Alex,Charlie and Max remembered the distractions that are around them whilst crossing or travelling on the road and need to be aware of them at all times to keep them safe.(phones, headphones, noise, roadkill, electric scooters and blind spots!)

Try to use a puffin or zebra crossing if possible!

Today in school, we were all able to participate in a fabulous, fun obstacle course named “Tough Runner”.

Class 5 thoroughly made the most of their time slot, as you can see, and a lovely opportunity for all the children to take part.
