Spring 1 (The Environment)

Key Vocabulary for the Half Term

 

  • Biodiversity – The variety of plant and animal life in the world or in a particular habitat, a high level of which is usually considered to be important.
  • Sustainability – Avoidance of the depletion of natural resources in order to maintain an ecological balance.
  • Conservation – The preservation, protection or restoration of the natural environment and of wildlife.
  • Ecological – To do with the relation of living organisms to one another and to their physical surroundings.

Safer Internet Day

Science- Electricity

This half term, Year 6 are looking at electricity and have been predicting the impact of different voltages on their circuits, which included a bulb, buzzer, motor or a fan before testing and recording the results.

Year 6 Spanish

In Spanish today, Year 6 welcomed a visitor to school to deliver an example of a lesson , which is likely to be delivered in their next school. Mrs Jepson delivered a sentence building activity , with repetitive vocabulary and lots of input from the children. 

Fencing in P.E.

This half term, Year 6 have been able to access some Fencing for their P.E. lessons, courtesy of AVSSP. This first taster lesson gave them the chance to try out the equipment, which comprised of electonic  'pressure pad' vests, plastic foils and safety helmets. Great fun was had by all!

 Yesterday in school,  each class had the opportunity to take part in a drumming workshop, giving the children the chance to try playing a more unusual type of drum. They thoroughly enjoyed learning how to play, listening to the beat and playing along to some popular kind of songs.
