A lovely day out at Sudbury Museum of Childhood

Science - 9th June 2025

We carried out an investigation to find out which material would make the strongest boat. We talked about the meaning of 'absorbant' and 'waterproof' and predicted whether tin foil, tissue paper or newspaper would make the strongest boat. We tested each boat by seeing how many marbles each boat could hold before it sank. We found out that tin foil made the strongest boat because it is waterproof. We then made our own boats out of tin foil and tested them on the water.

How to make a Paper Boat

For the full instructions visit: https://onelittleproject.com/how-to-make-a-paper-boat/ These paper boats are SO FUN and they're so simple to make! All you need is one piece of regular sized printer paper and in 5 minutes you can fold an awesome boat that actually floats in water!

This week, the whole of Key Stage 1 had a visit from Tommy.  He gave us lots of information about how to look after our teeth.  We each received a tootbrush, some toothpaste and an information booklet.
